Vanity Fair wrote that Tolman "calmly and assuredly stole" the film. For her role, she won the Critics' Choice Television Award for Best Supporting Actress in a Film/Miniseries, as well as Best Actress nominations at the Emmy Awards and for the Golden Globes. Tolman also had a role on The Mindy Show as Abby Berman a romance writer. Tolman was the support character in Michael Douglas' movie about horror Krampus. Tolman's breakthrough role in the film in the film as Fargo was the reason she decided to leave several supporting parts, including mother roles and best friends, wives and husbands.
